Regular Communication

This Friday,  August 8, 2014, is Manchester Lodge’s Regular Communication.   Dress is Business Casual.
We will conduct a Memorial for our dear departed Brothers that we have lost this past month. The lights that were once our Brothers are now dark. But their memory will continue to shine as long as one of us is alive to keep their memory glowing.

We will also conduct a Ballot on four new candidates.

Lodge opens at 6:30pm and cookout  at the Fellow Craft Club to follow meeting.  $5.00

In Memoriam – Br. George H. Amend, Jr.

AMEND JR., GEORGE H., 83, of Blackrock Rd., passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Riverview Healthcare Community. He was the husband of the late Janet A. (Mahoney) Amend.  A lifelong resident of Coventry, he was the son of the late George H. and Mae G. (Read) Amend.

George was a Quality Assurance Inspector for the US Navy at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT from 1969 until his retirement in 1993. Prior to that, George worked for 10 yrs at Electric Boat in the Shipyard Test Department.

broken_columnGeorge was a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. He belonged to the Manchester Lodge #12 F. & A.M. George was an avid golfer and he had belonged to several golf leagues. He was a member of Club Jogues for 64 yrs.

George was active in the Boy Scouts former Troop 1, Quidnick.

He was the father of Steven P. Amend and wife Diane, Michael W. Amend and wife Robin, all of West Warwick, Peter J. Amend and wife Jean, Melanie A. Amend – Waddell all of Coventry and Joan E. LaFramboise and husband Pete of The Villages, Florida. Grandfather of Michael, Greg, Mark, Amanda, Sara, Kayla and Jessica; great-grandfather of 5. George was the brother of the late Elaine Tourgee.

His funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117) Coventry. Interment with military honors in Woodland Cemetery, Coventry. Visiting hours are Monday 4 -7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Parkinson Disease Association, (www.apdaparkinson.org) will be appreciated.

We have been asked to perform a Masonic Memorial Service on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 7:00pm
